Subway and the Muslim Quarter

In yet another sign of how fast China is changing, we just found out that Xi'an has its very first Subway sandwich restaurant!  There are about 80 of the stores here in China, but before, they were all in the major cities in the South/East. Since it has been about 3 years since either one of us has had one, we are going there for lunch today.  We will let you know it was!

The woman pictured above is a friend ours who has a shop in the Muslim Quarter. If you have ever been to Xi'an, you know that is a major tourist shopping center. We had a great time with her, and a relative of hers. As we were visiting with her, I was struck by the fact that 3 years ago, we had to use English to converse with her, now all the talking is done in Chinese!
