When it rains....it pours...

Today, Renee and I noticed that our kitchen sink faucet was leaking and needed to be replaced. This happens in China...a lot....as things like faucets are not well made, and not designed to be used as much as we use them.

So after the helper left, we turned off the water...we thought....and proceeded to unhook the faucet from the water hose....

One side went well....then the other started spraying. Hard. Like Old Faithfull hard....

Have you ever tried to put a hose full of water back into a faucet? Does....not....work....

In seconds, my hair, clothes, and hearing aid are drenched. Renee and I are trying to stop the steady powerful stream of water but to no avail...

Since I am holding the hose, Renee runs to the management office, demanding they send the maintenance man to come help....Which is great....

But its 1pm, and everyone in China rests till 2 pm.  Fortunately, he comes in and pushes me out of the way....tries to do the things we did a million times....

Finally he grabs our tools and runs to the elevator, and in minutes the water is off. How did he do it, we ask? He turned the water for the ENTIRE building off, as if the foreigners don't stand out enough!

So Tegan, Preston, and I jump on the bus, buy a new faucet, get caught in a downpour  torrential monsoon and finally get home. Its all fixed, the water is back on, and all is well....

But it was one of those rare common times that my life was straight out of  the "Did I do that"  situations in your favorite: name of sitcom here
